Swargiy Chandra Singh Shahi Government P.G. College Kapkote was established on 5th November 2005. The college was affiliated to Kumaun University, Nainital from 1, July 2006 to July 2020 and got affiliated to Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora in July 2020. The college is recognized by University Grants Commission under 2-F. The college follows the policies and rules of  Uttarakhand state Government and Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora for Admission, Teaching- Learning Schedule, Syllabus,  Academic/Co-curricular activities and examination.
